HEX was born out of necessity and a flash of inspiration. Our founder, Drew Westervelt, was a professional lacrosse player who spent thousands of hours on the field and experienced one too many close and gross encounters with bacteria thanks to germ-infested turf. In 2010, he began researching the chemistry of keeping artificial grass clean with the intent of developing a product to help. Through his research, he found that materials in the turf and synthetic fabrics – such as Under Armour or Lululemon – are similar in their makeup.
